2
Q

what 4 stages of indirect learning take place for learning according to SLT?

A
  1. observe behaviour of our role model
  2. retain this information and remember it
  3. modelling/copying behaviour
  4. judgement (if we receive PR we carry on, if receive punishment we don’t)

Q

what is vicarious reinforcement?

A

if role model is rewarded for their behaviour then we are more likely to imitate it

Q

what are the meditational factors?

A
  • likelihood of imitation depends of mediational factors
    1. attention = if we. don’t notice behaviour we can’t imitate it
    2. retention = if we don’t remember what we saw we wont imitate
    3. motor reproduction = if we don’t have the ability to perform behaviours the we wont
    4. motivation = if we aren’t willing then we wont perform the behaviour

Q

what was banduras bobo doll procedure and findings?

A
  • 66 nursery children into 3 groups
  • three conditions :
    • condition 1 = adult not punished or rewarded for kicking bobo doll
    • condition 2 = adult was rewarded
    • condition 3 = adult was punished
  • children went into room to play with bobo doll
  • condition 2 was most aggressive
  • condition 3 was least aggressive

Q

strength of social learning theory (cognitive)

A

humans store info about when behaviours are appropriate - observing behaviour forms idea of how behaviour should be performed

Q

limitation of social learning theory (biology)

A

observational learning may be a result of mirror neurons in the brain which allow us to imitate others - biological influences under emphasised

9
Q

limitation of social learning theory (artificial - bandura)

A

done in a lab so not real life - tell us little about how children learn aggression in real life
