what is the affinity impulse?

A

2affinity and beyond; we have a innate human desire for deep personal relationships and connections. Humans want to belong to a community and/or be a part of a group and social media allows for us to enable this impulse through global access to communicate with millions of people when and where you want.

what is the altruistic impulse?

A

altruistic impulse is often confused with the validation impulse, it relates to wanting to do good to feel good. People will share or donate or repost information on a global issue or local issue in order to raise awareness and feel as though they have done a good deed. “PAY IT FORWARD”

epistemic curiosity is the prominent form of curiosity impulse seen on social media, it is the want for knowledge just to have knowledge, seeking knowledge for the enjoyment of it. It is also known as prurient curiosity.

A

this relates to the use of social media to boost one’s ego. Constantly checking likes, looking for approving comments, using social media to dictate how you feel about yourself is a form of validation impulse.

A
