What is a democracy?
The people rule, a system where citizens could vote for the laws they wanted. This obviously has since changed however.
What is a monarchy?
A government where royalty (a king or queen) rules over the common people.
What is an oligarchy?
A government where the rich and elite members of society govern over the common people
What is a tomb?
A vault usually large, used to store a dead king, his queen, and whoever else.
what is mummification?
A religious practice among the Egyptians where they would perform a sort of surgery on a dead body to help preserve it.
who is a scribe?
Someone who could read and write in Egyptian.
what is papyrus?
A plant that grew in Egypt, used for making boats, ropes, baskets, sandals, etc. It’s pith was used for writing.
What is a polis?
A Greek city state.
what is a city state?
A city that was independent from the rest of Greece, there were hundreds. With their own governments and mini cultures and beliefs.
What is an Acropolis?
A fortified citadel, usually at the heart of the city.
