Q

Sieber & Stanley (1988) 4 aspects of research raising socially sensitive issues

A

1) Formulation of research q- psychologists have a two-fold obligation, to prevent harm to participants or the wider group that may occur such as through omissions, assumptions, and attitudes which shape the research questions.

2) How research carried out n how ppts treated- psychologists have a double obligation dilemma of what’s more important; the likelihood of a ppt experiencing distress or if there a greater benefit for society

3) Context/ who funds it- Researcher should be mindful of how data’s used + who’s fundings the research

4) Interpretation + application of findings- Researcher needs to consider how their findings might be interpreted + applied in real world
