What is a softwood

A

Come from coniferous trees, have needles and do not loose their leaves in winter.

A

Light yellow and open grain.
Expensive furniture, structural timber, flooring, toys.
Not very strong and has no resistance to decay or bugs.

A

Yellow
Building construction, roofing, boatbuilding and furniture.
Stiff, strong, hard, heavy, dense, not susceptible to shrinkage, tendency to warp.

A

Orange/ red colouring with a straight grain.
Fencing, roofing, cladding, decking, musical instruments and furniture.
Durable, lightweight, resistant to decay and has highly insulating properties.
