Solo Quiz Flashcards
(40 cards)
What is the PC-21 max operating speed?
370KIAS
What is the PC-21 max operating speed with landing gear in transition?
180KIAS
Flight load factor limit with flaps and landing gear retracted:
+8G, -4G
Flight load factor limit with flaps retracted, landing gear extended:
8+G, -4G
Flight load factor limit with flaps in transition, TO or LDG:
+4G and 0G
Flight load factor with landing gear travelling:
+2G, 0G
What is the max crosswind permitted for student circuit solos?
10KTS up to 15KTS if Auth’d
After landing, what speed does the locked wheel crossover system stop operating?
25KTS
What is the recommended way to correct a pilot induced oscillation upon landing?
Apply max power and conduct a go-around
Unless an emergency dictates, what types of circuits are prohibited for 1FTS solo sorties?
- Abnormal Ops
- Glide
- Low level
- Flapless
If, whilst taxiing to the lines, you turn in the wrong direction, what actions must you take?
Stop, park brake on
Contact ground to organise deconfliction
During your first solo you are flying the aircraft on downwind in the circuit, and the tower advises of a runway change. Describe your actions.
Next landing full stop
Clear runway, conduct after landing cx
R/T ground for taxi to check bay
Taxi to check bay or ORP and do before takeoff checks
Taxi to new runway, conduct line up checks
T/O, resume circuit ops
During your first solo, which checklists are permitted to be conducted on the ground whilst rolling?
None
During your first solo you are conducting your final landing. What are your restrictions for exiting the runway?
Cannot exit at first taxiway.
During your first solo you are 400ft upwind and you notice a rumbling sound, reduction in engine noise and significant deceleration with PCL still at max. Describe your actions.
- Zoom: Adopt a 10° NU attitude
- PCL fuel off
- Trim: Run the trim back
- Turn away from built-up areas if time permits
- RT call: “Mayday, Charlie 15, abandoning (if time permits)
- Eject once airspeed is 120KIAS, wings level, climbing
During a solo sortie you conduct the pre-landing checks on downwind and notice the landing gear light all remain red followed by an amber GEAR caution and attention getter. Describe your actions.
- Boldface: Airspeed below 180KIAS
- Continue to fly the circuit pattern at 1000’
- Communicate issue to DI/ATC + PAN call
- Conduct checklist items (Get DI to read to reduce workload
- If issue resolved, land after consulting DI
- If issue not resolved, consider ejection
Describe when and how you’ll contact the DI at the start of your first solo
In the check bay, with park brake set, before the T/O checks. STUD26 —> DI, “Charlie 17 radio check”.
(Immediately before taxing away from parking bay, select COMM2 to DI)
Who May authorise your first solo? Describe the process.
- Consult with QFI to ensure understanding.
- Discuss sortie with DE IAW aide memoir for auth including:
C/S, sortie, objectives, timings, weather, NOTAMS, domestics, AirEX
In the event of a HUD failure, what are your actions and what is the primary reference instrument?
- Continue to ANCA (Safe height, heading, speed, check obvious items [Brightness, MC/HUD switch])
- PFD is the primary instrument, land and terminate sortie
In the event of a radio failure on the solo, what must you do?
- ANCA, fly the ACFT (AP if required)
- Continue to transmit blind
- Check obvious items (Mic-Tel, button, volume, COMM1 setup, squelch, RMFD Freq page)
- If not solved, squawk 7600, Rock wings dead side
- Self seperate with traffic via lookout and LMFD
- Fly normal circuit
- Land when green light is observed from tower
As you are about to taxi from the lines you hear a number of engine surges and note rapidly increasing ITT passing 750°C. What are your immediate actions?
- PCL: Fuel off
- Contact ground and maintenance to let them know you’ve shut down
- Conduct the after landing and shutdown checks
What are the 10 go-around criteria?
As per other quiz (I can’t be fucked aye)
BOLDFACE: Aborted takeoff
PCL: Idle
Brakes: As required
If aborting due to engine fire
Engine fire/smoke and fumes on ground
BOLDFACE: Emergency egress on ground
- Seat pin - in
- Leg restraints - release
- Seat harness - release
- Oxygen mask hose - disconnect
- MIC-TEL disconnect
- PSP disconnect
- Canopy open
