What is the ideal way to test hose?
Use the hose testing machine if possible.
Contact the Shop for an appointment and ensure safety precautions.
How many feet of 5” hose can be tested at one time?
1000 feet
All other hoses can be tested up to 300 feet.
What are the testing durations and pressures for hoses?
5 minutes; 200 PSI for 5” hose and 300 PSI for all other hoses.
What type of number must all firefighting equipment be marked with?
A 4 digit number.
When is the inventory to be submitted to the Logistics Chief?
In January.
What happens if the inventory is found deficient?
The last Officer must explain in writing to the District Chief and request a replacement if needed.
How is hose cleaned?
With cold clear water and mild detergent.
Is it allowed to use oil on the threads of the hose?
No, it is absolutely prohibited.
What email should all requests for hose repair be sent to?
FD-RigMaint.
What details must be included in the hose repair email?
Pickup and delivery details, hose identification number, and a description of the needed repair.
What RFD form is used for Apparatus Checklist Daily?
RFD 403.
What is the acceptable range for a voltmeter?
Not under 12 volts and not higher than 15 volts.
How long do we run gas powered tools?
5 minutes.
What months are we to wax the apparatus (JAJO)?
January, April, July, and October.
When should aerial ladder beams and rollers be cleaned and lubricated?
Mid-March, July 1st, and the end of October.
How often are aerial and ground ladders tested?
Annually.
What is the procedure to clean SCBA masks?
Use warm water and a small amount of dish soap.
What is the brand name of the Regulator?
MSA Fire Hawk M7.
Where do you scan your ID FOB on the SCBA?
On the Control Module.
What pressure indicates when to change the air bottle?
Under 4000 PSI.
When does the PASS alarm go off?
After 20 seconds for pre-alarm and after 30 seconds for full alarm.
At what PSI does the low air alarm bell ring when bleeding off air?
About 1100 PSI.
What form number is used to address SCBA problems?
Form #470, SCBA Complaint Form.
What must be done if a face piece is damaged?
Contact the District Chief for a loaner or exchange at the Shop.
