SOP's Flashcards
The recommended procedure for flight in severe turbulence is?
- Target airspeed is 280 knots or .76 MACH whichever is lower, do not chase the airspeed
- if autopilot is engaged use CWS, do not use ALT HOLD
- auto throttle disengage
When should gear be taken on an ILS?
At 4nm, but not later than 3.5nm, call “GEAR DOWN”, “FLAPS 15.” Arm speed brake and check green light illuminated. Call “LANDING CHECKLIST DOWN TO FLAPS.”
What are the maximum and recommended speeds at which you can exit a Rapid Exit Taxiway?
Maximum speed 60 knots
Recommended speed 45 knots
If moderate to heavy rain, hail or sleet is encountered…
Start switches should be positioned to CONT, Autothrottle disconnected, thrust levers adjusted slowly. A slower IAS/Mach used and consideration given to starting the APU
What warnings signify predictive windshear?
‘Windshear Ahead’
‘Go Around Windshear Ahead’
‘Monitor Radar Display’
When should a commander declare a Mayday for fuel?
When calculated usable fuel on landing at the nearest suitable aerodrome where a safe landing can be performed is less than final reserve fuel.
In flight fuel checks should be performed and recorded on the plot at…
At TOC or nearest equivalent abeam waypoint and regular intervals in the cruise. Time interval in the cruise is 30 mins or next waypoint thereafter. Fuel shall be recorded at TOD
The minimum pressure for the Brake accumulator gauge (HYD’s pressurised). on the walk around is?
2800 psi
Maximum taxi speed on the apron is
15 knots
It is policy to conduct a low drag approach once the met and visibility is above?
1000ft
5000m
An ‘Emergency Turn’ (Engine failure on take off) must be flown at?
V2 with a 15’ angle of bank
At what stage are we no longer constrained by MEL?
Once pushback has commenced, the aircraft is no longer constrained by the MEL
How long does the rectangle around each mode annunciation remain active after each engagement.
10 seconds
Whenever the APU is operating and AC electrical power is on the airplane busses, operate at least one fuel boost pump to supply fuel under pressure to the APU to extend the service life of the APU fuel control unit.
Correct
For aircraft with the old centre pumps installed (placarded) the centre pumps should not be switched on for T/O with less than ?
2,300kgs of fuel in the centre tank.
Prior to switching on the A system pump switches, we should ensure?
Ground personnel are clear of the tow bar or the bypass pin is installed
Oil quantity for dispatch is?
12 quarts
When we test and hold the oxygen for 5 secs what are we checking for?
Verify that the crew oxygen pressure does not decrease more than 100 psig.
Assumed temperature thrust reduction shall be used with the exception of the following:
- contaminated or slippery runway
- windshear is suspected
- anti-skid inop
- thrust reverser inop
- TOW is within 500 kgs of the RTOW (1000kgs when obstacle limited)
- EEC in alternate mode
- landing gear extended flight
- bleeds off takeoff
- when prohibited by airfield brief
- crosswind exceeding 10 knots.
Note: When crosswind in excess of ten knots exists and no assumed temperature reduction off a given derate is possible, then the next highest derate shall be selected, i.e., 22k derate, no assumed temp possible, select 24k for this takeoff. This is a tailstrike prevention policy.
FMC speeds may be used if they differ from the calculated RTOW speed by no more than ?
1 knot
Quick method for checkin accuracy of loadsheet
- Subtract the actual load from the allowed load
- Add the resulting figure to the T/O weight
This should give you the max allowable T/O weight
Position engine start lever to IDLE detent when:
- N1 rotation is observed and
- N2 RPM reaches 25% or (if 25% N2 is not achievable)
- At max motoring and a minimum of 20% N2.
Max motoring occurs when N2 acceleration is less than 1% in approximately 5 seconds.
After engine start engine EGT may vary between?
Idle EGT may vary from 320°C – 520°C depending on OAT, bleed configuration, and engine conditions
A minimum of how long is required between engine start attempts?
10 seconds
