6
Q

Explain what is happening when a vehicle is decelerating.

A

when a force is applied to the brakes of a vehicle, there is work done by the friction between the brakes and wheel. This reduces the kinetic energy of the vehicle, slowing it down and causing temp of the brakes to increase

Q

The faster a vehicle travels, the greater the braking force needed to stop it in a certain distance, a greater breaking force = a greater deceleration. What are the dangers of a greater deceleration?

A

.brakes may overheat
.driver can lose control of the vehicle
