Why is a telephone conversation more difficult that face-to-face conversatin
A telephone conversation relies completely on voice/paralanguage because all nonverbal aspect of a conversation cannot be seen through the phone.
Several kinds of questions that you should be prepared to answer during a job interview
- Why do you want to work for this company?
- What experience have you had that prepares you for this position?
- What kind of grades did you receive in school?
- What would you expect as a starting salary?
- If you are hired how long would you expect to stay at this company?
- What are you long-range career goals?
- Hobbies or other interest
- What do you know about the company?
- Strengths for the job

- When you arrive; late (bad) or early (good)
- Appearance: good grooming is good
- Answering the questions: answer the question completely but don’t drag it out
- How you speak: exited, clear, too loud etc.
- Eye contact
- Face expression: do you seem interested/engaged
Group Discussion
three or more people meet to solve a common problem, arrive at a decision, or answer a question of mutual interest
Decision
a type of discussion in which members meet with the specific goal of reaching a judgment or conclusion
Englightenment Group
a type of discussion in which members meet to share information
Close-group Discussion
communication only among group members to solve a common problem, arrive at a decision, or answer a question of mutual interest
Public Discussion
group communication involving members of the group as well as listeners outside the discussion group
Committee
a small subgroup of a larger organization, one that has been given a specific task or set of tasks
Round-table Discussion
a closed-group session in which information sharing or enlightenment of those taking part is usually the object
Panel
a group that discusses a topic in front of an audience
