What is sport psychology?
Sports psychology is the study of how psychological factors influence sports and physical activity to improve sports performance and mental well-being.
What do sport psychologists do?
Sport psychologists help professional and amateur athletes overcome problems, enhance their performance, and achieve their goals.
Mental Imagery
Mental imagery is when an individual imagines themselves doing or achieving something, without actually performing the required actions.
Self-Confidence
Self-assurance: trust in one’s abilities, capacities, and judgment.
Motivation (both types)
Intrinsic motivation is a motivation that results from internal factors operating within an individual.
Extrinsic motivation is a motivation that results from rewards that are external to the individual.
Reinforcement
Reinforcement is defined as a consequence that follows the attempts to increase the likelihood of that response occurring in the future.
