  • 1948 - the National Basketball Association (NBA) established after 2 rival leagues (BAA and the National Basketball League NBL) merged into one

  • Larry Bird, Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Dennis Rodman, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 6 NBA championships, 20 seasons

  • the 6 best teams from each conference play against each other in the NFL play-offs and the winners meet in the championship game called the Super Bowl (90 million viewers)
