Stemi Flashcards
How Stemi's present on an ecg (10 cards)
wha is Atrial flutter
it is a form of SVT caused by the re entry circuit within the right atrium. The circuits cause the atrial chambers to be faster than the ventricle chambers, causing an out of sink pattern.
How does Atrial flutter display on an ecg
displays with flutter waves between the QRS complexes seen on leads II, III, aVF and V1. The ventricular rate can be regular or irregular.
what symptoms present in pt with atrial flutter
- palpitations
- dizziness
- SOB
- chest pain
- anxiety
- some may be asymptomatic
what are the causes of Atrial flutter
heart disease
hypertension
congestive heart failure
Rheumatic valve disease
Lung disease such as emphysema
What is a Stemi?
Stemi comes under acute coronary syndrome. A stemi is a complete blockage of the coronary arteries, leading to damage to the heart muscles causing long interruption to blood supply.
What is the ST segment
is the section representing the time between electrical depolarisation and repolarisation. measured from the j point to the beginning of the T wave.
what are the signs and symptoms of a Stemi
chest pain with radiation into right arm or both
Pallor and sweating
Nausea/ Vomiting
sob
what would appear on an ecg with a stemi?
ST elevation or ST depression.
What does ST elevation indicate
Myocardial injury or a stemi showing at the st segment above the base line
what does ST depression show
indicates myocardial ischemia or reciprocal changes to st elevation
