Q

ST 7 location, insertion and needle depth, use?

A

In the depression below the middle of the zygomatic arch, posterior to the masseter and btw the coronoid process and condyle process of the mandible. Point is located with the mouth closed, if a finger is placed on the point and the mouth is opened, the condyle process will be felt as it moves forward.

Lateral to medial, perpendicular to the skin at a depth of 0.5 - 1 cun

Pain and inflammation of TMJ, pain in lower gum, teeth and jaw, facial paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia involving V3 and myofascial dysfunction muscles of mastication
