stratagies and effectiveness at combatting climate change Flashcards
(12 cards)
1 - people encouraged to use public transport walk or cycle use of electric cars to cut on fossil fuel consumption
electric cars too expensive for mass adoption, trains and buses now include wifi to make transport more appealing

4 - Goverment polices such as “helping housholds cut their energy bills” and encouraging them to use smart meters
5 - switching to renewable energy such as octopus energy reduces the need for fossil fuels
6 - Low emmision zones have been set up in majour cities to recudes emmisons and improve health in scotland
7 - All new buildings in scotland must have low-carbon heating systems
8 - Hosepipe ban during droughts
9 - flood barriers to protect against flooding e.g the thames flood barrier which protects london from flooding
10 - The paris agreement (196 countries) to limit climate change to 2C increase
11 - The european union, EU contries must cut greenhouse gas emmisions by 55% by 2030 with a goal of making the EU climate neutral by 2050
12 - the goverment in the uk encourages housholds to reduce, reuse and recycle products, by law all retailers must charge a minimum of 10p for each single use bag
