What is social stress?
Difficulties with social relationships and participation in activities/work
What is negative affect stress?
A type of emotional response causing negative feelings
What is biochemical stress?
Metabolic changes due to stress, for example altered endorphin levels
What is cognitive stress?
Stress involving negative thoughts and loss of concentration
What is emotional stress?
Stress involving mood swings and feeling tearful, irritable, aggressive and apathetic
What is behavioural stress?
Stress causing increased absenteeism, smoking and alcohol consumption, increased/decreased food consumption, sleep disturbance
What is endocrine stress?
Stress caused by hormone imbalance. The same as biochemical
What is physiological stress?
Signs include shallow breathing, raised blood pressure, increase in stomach acid secretion
What is chemical stress?
The same as biochemical!
What is positive affect stress?
A type of emotional response causing positive feelings
