Hormones in adrenal cortex
1) glucocorticoids - helps regulate metabolism by controlling how fats and proteins are converted to energy. Helps maintain blood pressure for example cortisol and corticosterone
2) aldosterone- controls blood pressure by maintaining balance of salt and water concentration in blood and body fluids
3) androgens- sex hormones released after puberty
Hormones produced in adrenal medulla (when sympathetic triggers, fight or flight)
1) adrenaline- increases heart rate so blood to muscles and brain quickly. Rapid rate of glycogenelosis
2) noradrenaline- works with adrenaline, increases heart rate, widens pupils, vasoconstriction so higher blood pressure, widening air passages to lungs
