A

key western styles-
classical (beethoven, Bach, Mozart) complicated but pure, lots of variation.
folk- music of the commoners. small groups, passed down orally, instruments taught
jazz- distinctly american. IMPROVISATION. lead sheet- has the basics, but can add your own twist, embellishments
blues- spiritual, country western, rock and roll, Lewis Armstrong Trumpet

Asian Middle Eastern style

A
  • are Microtonal (alot more nuances, lots flats sharps, COMPLEX SHIT GOIN ON)
  • they do not use lots of harmony
  • Eastern traditional, you see the same melody being played. not the same fabric of harmony. (So lots of different notes, but not at the same time in harmony.)

A

Early civilization was influenced by.. Sumer, Babylon, etc. COOL!!
