A

Emmeline Pankhurst.
Violent and aggressive demonstrations, distracting meetings and sometimes physically attacking politicians

Only open to women.
Focused on ‘deeds not words’ using violence (distrust political party meetings, chain themselves to railings, hunger strike while in prison) to publicise issues of female suffrage.

However, the voilence drew attention but also cost them support, some believe giving women right to vote suggest gov given into terrorist actions.
Work of women in WW1 that ultimately persuaded parliament 1918 to give women over 30 right to vote.
Soon disbanded organisation after that.

A

Votes at 16
Coalition of many groups who believe franchise extend to 16 + 17 yo across UK in all elections.
2001 under direction and coordination of British youth council.
June 2020, had 4290 registered supporters + worked with groups e.g. British Youth Parliament + National Union of Students to lower voting age.
Many methods e.g. producing and publishing info thru its website.
Although overall aim of lower voting age to 16, not been achieved yet for general elections seen some success:
-voting age for elections to Scottish and Welsh parliaments lower to 16.
-2014, voting age lowered to 16 for Scottish independence referendum.

Failures
-despite years of campaigning, 16 + 17yo still cannot vote in Westminster elections.
