Q

Why did opposition to the regime prove difficult, even at the end of the war?

A
  • Some groups that might have been a focal point for opposition were banned, for example trade unions and non-Nazi political parties were banned
  • Other groups that could have spearheaded opposition had compromised themselves by cooperating with the regime
  • Nazi police were highly effective at silencing opposition to the regime
