hazards of supine position

A

Brachial plexus damage if arm extended > 90 degrees (should not be > 60 degrees in older/arthritic patients
Ulnar nerve at elbow - pad and have arm in neutral position
airway obstruction
increased risk or regurgitation of gastric contents
facial nerves at risk of crush injuries from facemask or ET ties
