systems: instruments Flashcards
pitot static system
pitot tube: dynamic air + 2 static sources (sends info to GDC74 air data computer, standby altimeter, standby airspeed indicator)
fuselage: 2 additional static sources, pumped to autopilot
pitot heat for pitot tube
alternate static source inside cabin
gyroscope system
for standby attitude indicator
electrically powered gyroscope
includes inclinometer
source of electricity is main electrical system
backup source of electricity is standby battery
autopilot
two-axis Bendix/King Honeywell KAP140 autopilot
automatic preflight test (audible tone) + additional test during runup
G1000 avionics suite
display units x2 (left is PFD, right is MFD + moving map)
audio panel (located in between display units)
integrated avionics unit x2
air data computer
attitude heading & reference system
magnetometer
transponder
engine & airframe unit
integrated avionics unit
two of these
each unit contains VHF com radio, VHF na radio, GPS, various processors
entire unit defaults to most reliable GPS signal
air data computer
turns data from pitot tube into electronic info, processes it to determine airspeed, altitude, vertical speed
attitude heading & reference system
uses various solid state sensors + accelerometers to determine turn quality, attitude, rate of turn
magnetometer
located on far right wing
assists GRS77 in serving info including heading
transponder
modes A/C/S
engine & airframe unit
takes information from many systems and reports it on MFD (always) or PFD (in reversionary mode)
systems: both engines, electrical, fuel, deice, airframe
FADEC
full authority digital engine control
DA42’s fadec is the ECU (engine control unit)
located in lower section of engine nacelle
ECU channels
each ECU splits into two completely isolated channels (A and B)
each channel can accomplish all functions on its own
channel A is active by default
automatically switches to channel B if needed
can also manually switch to channel B with swap switch (considered an emergency which MUST be declared)
if both channels fail -> engine shuts down
what does ECU control
regulates fuel-air mixture
sets prop pitch via governor
controls engine RPM
opens/closes turbocharger waste gate
full list of ECU sensors: 7-59
other fulls list in POH
