Task 3 Flashcards
(13 cards)
Reliability
Ability of a measure to produce similar results as it is repeated
Test-Retest reliability
Doing the tame test twice with a sufficient time in between
Parallel-forms reliability
Testing two different but similar test with a duration in between
Split-half reliability
Mixing two parallel tests into one for one setting
Validity
Measure measures what it is intended to measure
Internal validity
A measure supports a claim about a cause or effect within a specific study —› Hypothesis is supported by the measure
External validity
When the conclusion of a scientific study can be applied to the real world
Face validity
The degree to which an assessment or test appears to measure the variable or construct that it is supposed to measure —› If e.g. IQ-test really gives insight about intelligence
Content Validity
How accurately an assessment or measurement tool goes into various aspects of the specific construct in question —› do the questions of a test really asses the construct of the questions?
Criterion-related Validity
How well a measurement can predict the outcome of another measure
—› Predictive Validity
—› Concurrent Validity
—› Construct Validity
Predictive validity
If a test predicts what it is designed to predict
—› Do SAT results predict collage performance?
Concurrent Validity
Prediction and criterion data are collected at the same time or how well a test can be replaces by another
—› How well a written drivers instead of one with an instructor can predict driving behaviour
Construct Validity
The validity of a test that is supposed to measure something that is not directly observable —› behaviour
