What is the first stage ?

A

Measure 30cm3 of dilute hydrochloric acid in a measuring cylinder

A

Transfer this to a polystyrene cup
And stand it inside a beaker to stop it falling over
Place a thermometer in the cup

A

Using a measuring cylinder measure 5cm3 of sodium hydroxide solution
Add this to the polystyrene cup
Then fit a plastic lid and place tin the thermometer

A

Using the thermometer gently stir the solution.
The temperature will increase and monitor the temperature rise

Repeat experiment multiple times using 10cm3 of sodium hydroxide and increase the volume by 5cm3 until we reached 40cm3
