‘Land’. Distinctiveness of quality wines due to their sense of place.

What is the concept of sense of place with terroir?
A
Wines show characteristics of where they were grown.
Climate, soil, aspect, elevation.
e.g. wines made from grapes a few hundred meters apart taste v different. eg. Cote d’Or.
