Digital literacy

Computer

Imbedded Computer
a computer installed within a machine that either controls directly or works as a sub system. Ex. Computer in an automobile
Laptop

Tablet
a thin lighter weight mobile computer (bigger than a phone and smaller than a laptop) that has a touch screen.
Desktop
a personal computer designed to be in a stationary location, where the computer fits on or under the desk or table.
Server
is a computer dedicated to providing one or more services to other computers on a network.
Thin Clients
most of the software is stored and operates on the compute server.
Thick Clients
most of the software resides on the client.
Mobile Computing Device
a computing device small enough to hold in your hand, commonly called an electronic baby sitter or phone.
Smartphone
mobile computing device with internet capability combined with a phone that usually includes apps

a small flat rectangular pointing device that is sensitive to pressure and motion.

USB Flash Drives
A portable flash memory device that is light weight and plugs into a USB port.
Memory cards
a very small removable flash memory used for digital photos.

CDs and DVDs that use laser technology to burn “pits” into the surface of the media to store data.
