  • They have something in common that brings them together as a group
  • At least two people
  • Roles or positions that people assume (leader, motivator, president, bodyguard, etc.)
  • Different statuses (one elevated above the others, sometimes slight, sometimes by much)
  • Norms (rules they have to go by, etc.)
  • Interdependence (hopefully everyone pulls their own weight and cooperates)
  • Cohesion (there is a sense of unity among members, they say we or us)
