Describe the meaning “Separation-individuation Process” and explain how it relates to you and your life at this previous moment. What steps have you taken to work on the “Separation-individuation Process”
Definition-How teenagers gradually pull away from their parents and become independent.
Personally the way “Separation-individuation Process” relates to my life is that as I’m getting older I will tend to grow apart from my parents because my life is changing, I’m a teenager and I have more opportunities and meeting new people as the years go on.
Name 2 different types or methods of reproductive technologies/alternative and provide a brief explanation of each
Donor eggs- donor eggs are an ART used when a woman’s eggs are not viable. An egg from another woman is mixed with the man’s sperm and the embryo is implanted in the uterus.
Surrogacy- surrogacy is the process in which another woman carries a baby that is made from either your egg and your husband’s sperm, or donor egg and sperm.
What are 3 physical and/or environmental factors that are linked to infertility in both males and females that we’re discussed in class. (One mark for each category and one mark for each explanation)
Males
- Smoking decreases both sperm count and sperm motility.
- Doing illegal drugs can prevent sperm count
- Alcohol abuse can lower sperm count
Females
- Hormones are the most common causes because upon a complex balance of hormones and their interactions to be successful in the uterus.
- Overweight/Underweight can cause women to have less of a chance to get pregnant because of lack of exercise and dieting.
- Infections can cause scarring and damage. A specific example is Hydrosalpnix, a condition in which the fallopian tube is occluded at both ends and fluid collects in the tube.
What are the 4 benefits of breast feeding we discussed in class
- Immunizes infant’s against many diseases
- It improves growth to the body system
- Less risk of long term body problems
- Losing weight and getting your body back
