Views on Hell
Literal – A place of everlasting punishment for the wicked.
Metaphorical – No redemption for wicked but end is uncertain.
Purgatorial – A place of divine cleansing for the righteous who die with unconfessed sins; receive judgment and punishment over a period of time. The righteous living can offer prayers or do good works as payment against time to serve.
Conditional - A temporary punishment: wicked are redeemed for eternal life or annihilated.
Universalism- All people will be saved
Amillennialism
- -Christ’s current reign over the church. This present age (fallen world) is passing away. Christ’s kingdom is coming in full.
- -The millennial is now.
- -Hostility towards Christians will increase (tribulatio).
- -Believers meet Jesus in the air.
- -Armageddon.
- -All descend to earth for final judgment.
- -Heaven or Hell.
Postmillennialism
- -Millennial is spiritual –Culture becomes Christian
- -sees the future as a forward, positive advancement of the church bringing the nations of the world into obedience to the LORD and His kingdom. –Great Rebellion –Believers gathered with Jesus
