A

Settled the Boundary dispute between Spain and the United States. Gave Florida to the United States and the Neutral Ground went to the Spanish.

A

He was a Mexican official who proposed a plan for the independent nation of Mexico if they successfully revolted from Spain. He said Mexico would remain an Independent nation, they would remain Catholic, and all Mexicans would be treated equally

Moses Austin

A

United States Businessman who lost his fortune and got the idea to help the Spanish Settle Texas. He made a deal with the Spanish Government to bring Anglo American Settlers to Texas to help settle the land. He died before he could begin his venture.

Stephen F. Austin

A

Son of Moses Austin who was called upon to fulfill his fathers Texas venture. He brought the first 300 settlers to Texas and created a very successful colony. Chose site due to rich soil, access to water, and warm climate. He negotiated all the contracts, and problems between the Mexican government and the settlers. He believed in what he was doing and became known as the father of Texas.
