What is the American Civil War?
A civil war fought in America between 1861-1865.
What was the reason for the civil war?
The reason for this war was because of Slavery which still existed in America after 1838.
What was the disagreement that the Norther states had with the Southern States?
The Northern States were industrialized and wanted slavery to end. The Southern states wanted slavery to continue slavery since they had plantations and needed slaves to continue to work on the plantations.
When did the Civil war begin and how?
The war began on 12 April 1861 when the Sothern states attacked the Northern states at Fort Sumter.

What were some of the advantages that the Northern states had?(4)
- The North had well equipped army and Navy.
- They had more money to support the war effort.

- They had no organized army. NO navy.

The blockade was established by the Northern side (Abraham Lincoln) on 19 April 1861.
What was the purpose of the blockade to the North?
This blockade by the North was to prevent the South from exporting there agriculture.

What are Greyhounds?
Special boats that were long, narrow and very fast. These boats were painted black or gray and burnt a special smokeless coal. They operated at night under the cover of darkness.
