P1: Paraphrase the argument (Author’s conclusion and evidence) Summarize the goal of your essay. State your thesis, which will be always be that the argument is unconvincing.

P2: State & evaluate an important assumption the author makes, question to be answered, or possible alternative explanation.

P3: Next to Last Paragraph: continue to point out flaws in the author’s reasoning. Show what evidence, if it were true, would strengthen the argument. (Evidence can be discuss in each paragraph)

Last Paragraph: Summarize your main point in a way that addresses the specific instructions. State that unless additional evidence is provided, the audience for the argument should find it unpersuasive.
