the servants were spies for walsignham who intercepted her letters. Walsignham was notorious for being liz’s spymaster. The original message and mary’s reply were decoded and taken straight to Liz. it was clear mary was plotting to kill the queen
what were the consequences of the plot being uncovered?
MQS was ordered to go on trial for treason
