Q

How did Eisenhower and Kenedy try to deal with the ultimatum from Khruschev

A

They held multiple conferences however even though Khrushchev removed his demand he placed it back in once the new president Kenedy came in

He demanded the West leave West Berlin within 6 months or the USSR would hand control of access to East Germany.Eisenhower refused.

The crisis escalated but cooled after talks.

He would sign a treaty with East Germany, transferring control of East Berlin to them and potentially restricting Western access to West Berlin.
