It is an establishing wide shot of the Öresund Bridge, a rpeated motif throughout the series which might symbolise the transition of ideologies between Sweeden (liberal) and Norway (conservative).
The Bridge might also be symbolic of the cross-country connections (could link industry and the geographical locations of the show)
This instatly represents a dark, urban and isolated setting typical of nordic noir.
REPRESENTATION
What is the effect of the opening shot of dolls?
The opening shot is a close up of discarded female dolls.

What is the effect of the characters being framed in shot?
The opening shot includes a wide shot of Saga framed by gates, later on she is framed by elevator doors.

The episode is critical of this, ecouraging people to beak free of these labels and restrictions.
