List two ways in which the traditional role of Canadian women changed during WW2
Women where allowed to join the army; some got to fly planes
Despite women’s advances, what inequalities in the workforce remained?
They still got paid less for the same amount of work. seen as temp replacements less skilled jobs is what they were given
In what way did Canada contribute a “total war effort”?
Factories produce bullets, bombs, aircraft, ships, and armored cars. They contributed to a lot of the war supplies.
How would you explain the level of government involvement in Canada’s war effort?
The role of the government expanded; they were dedicated to all aspects of the war. There were more corporations by the federal government.
Why did Canada become worried that allied countries would no longer buy supplies from Canada?
Because the American government introduced the lend-lease, which allowed allied countries to buy materials WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY UPFRONT.
What action did Prime Minister King take in response to this act?
King issued the Hyde Park Declaration, which stated that the US would buy more raw materials from Canada and would supply Canada with American parts for the production of weapons.
What type of propaganda was used in Canada to encourage the war effort?
They developed many documentaries and short films to encourage Canadians. Posters were also used as well.

They cheated facilities in canada to train pilots and crew from other Commonwealth countries
