- Audience views and responds to it
- Audience’s response can impact artists and type of work they create
What is artwork?
physical representation of ideas and can be physically, material, virtual
- form: art, craft, 2D/3D/4D, sculptures/statues, design etc
What is artwork reflection of?
- idea
- personal experience
- cultural views
- symbolic representations
- cultural interpretation
- challenge to other ideas
What are the 4 things you need to ask when discussing artist?
WHO- is the artists? biographical
WHAT- the process of work/idea/concept. What is influencing them and the way they go about creating their art
WHY- intention/purpose/function. Reason behind idea and art making process
HOW- their technique, physical process, viewpoints and practices can be culturally determined by society they live in and diff traditions that happen in their time (borrow from various traditions)
What is the audience?
- those who view the artwork / body of critical consumers such as art critics and students
- ppl who respond to artwork and how audience brings different meaning to artworks overtime
- changes overtime and bring diff meaning to artworks, artists and interpretation of world
- Compare old words about art to way we view and speak of them today.
What is the world (brief)?
description and interpretation of the world/events occuring
What is world more deeply?
- whether or not artists is commenting on world and if yes what element of world?
- how their viewpoint is relevant and represented in artwork?
artworks are a representation of the world at their time. It represents interest in the world such as representations of experience, class, ideology, age and events of significance
What is conceptual framework?
refers to the components of the art world- artist, audience, artwork and world.
It is concerned with looking at them individually as well as the relationships between them.
