What are the four layers of the GI tract?
Mucosa, submucosa, muscularis (2 layers everywhere but the stomach, which is 3 layers), serosa
Serosa
Visceral peritoneum that is everywhere except the superior esophagus and the inferior rectum.
Muscularis
Smooth muscle, 2 layers everywhere but the stomach, which has 3 layers
Mucosa
Innermost layer that secretes mucus in the esophagus and anus and digestive juices
Submucosa
Neurovascular layer
When does the pharynx become the esophagus?

Superior half- skeletal. Inferior half- smooth
Where is the site of most absorption of nutrients in the GI tract?
Small intestine (jejunum)

Ileocecal junction
Where does water reabsorption occur?
