It carried him out into deep water and then returned him back to shore

The story spread throughout the town
What did people do when they heard what happened to the boy?
They flocked to catch sight of the boy, and asked him questions
What does ‘adspicere’, ;interrogare’, audire, and narrare mean?
They see, ask questions, hear, and tell others
What happened the next day?
People rushed to the shore and looked out to sea and seen a group of boys swimming. The same boy from before was there and the dolphin came back to see the boy.
What does ‘quasi invitet et revocet’ mean?
As if it was inviting him and summoning him back
What did the dolphin do the next day?
It jumped up - ‘Delphinus exsilit’
Dived back down and performed various twists and turns- ‘mergitur, variosque orbes implicat, expeditque’
Why were the people ashamed?
Because they were afraid of the dolphin
What did the people do with the dolphin?
They went up to the dolphin, played with it, called on it, and even touched and stroked it when it allowed them to - ‘acedunt… experimento’
What does ‘amari putat, amat ipse’ mean?
It’s loved him and he loved it back
What does ‘neuter timet, neuter timetur’ mean?
Neither of them was afraid, neither was feared
What does ‘huius fiduca, mansuetudo illius augetur’ mean?
The confidence of the boy grew, as did the tameness of the dolphin
