What are the differences and similarites between Bordeaux and the Dordogne ?

A

The climate is almost the same, although the Dordogne has less moderating maritime influence. Bergerac, the major appellation in the Dordogne, uses the same grape varities as Bordeaux for red and whites. In Monbazillac, sweet botrytised wines from Sémillon and Sauvignon blanc are made.

A

Wines from Cahors that were typically very tannic and long-lived. The most important grape variety is Malbec, but also Merlot and Tannat are planted.

A

The complex sweet white wine made from the high acid Petit Manseng, Free of botrytis, undergo passerillage. Pronounced apricot and grapefruit aromas, sometimes accompanied by spicy notes from new oak.
