Where is it located?
A
Downtown section of New Orleans.
Became a city in 1805, and is the oldest neighbourhood in the district, often referred to as “Vieux Carre” (Old Square in French)

The designation “French Quarter” itself recalls the French immigrants who settled here in the 17th & 18th centuries when the neighbourhood was first built.
