Q

Name one reason why the Indigenous peoples might have settled on the islands rather than staying on the mainlands

A

The main reason might have been for food. The islands had land for planting and game for hunting. Some settlers might have wanted to set up their own communities while others may have been fleeing to avoid enslavement from more powerful civilizations such as that of the Aztec, Mayan and Inca. Some may have just been following the human urge to explore.
