Menstruation Cycle

A

1) If the egg is not fertilised, the lining of the uterus is shed as it is not needed. Bleeding usually lasts for 2-5 days, this is called a period
2) The lining of the uterus starts to regrow ready for if she becomes pregnant. It is made of spongey tissue.
3) At around day 14, another egg is ready to released from the ovary, waiting to be fertilised. When the egg is released it is called ovulation.
4) The lining of the uterus begins to thicken, ready for a pregnancy. She can become pregnant for a few days after ovulation
