What are the 2 theories on the causes of maths anxiety?

1. Cognitive deficit: poorer maths ability (spatial/ numerical deficits) leads to maths anxiety
2. Debilitating anxiety: high anxiety leads to poorer maths learning, which leads to maths anxiety

What is the difference between directional and non-directional hyp?

Directional = predicts the specific direction in which the effect occurs
non-directional = no direction given, just told a difference will be found
