A

What did Hitler do to over throw the government

A

On November 8th Hitler broke into a meeting being held by 3 leaders of the Bavarian government (including Gustav von Kahr and Otto von Lossow) in large beer hall. He had 600 storm troopers (SA) to back him up. Hitler head the Bavarian leaders at gunpoint and forced all 3 to help him. Then, general Ludendorff, a Great War hero, entered the hall announcing that he also supported Hitler. Hitler hoped that this would secure the support of the local police and army. Whilst Hitler was speaking the SA was taking control of government offices

How did Hitlers 1923 plan go wrong

A

The plan went wrong and the 3 Bavarian leaders retracted their support for Hitler, ordering the army to attack the SA. In the following conflict Hitler, Ludendorff and 2000 Nazis were defeated. On the 9th of November Hitler and Ludendorff were arrested, charged with high treason and taken to prison.

A

Hitler’s career appeared to be over, but nothing was further from the truth. His trial lasted 24 days and made headline news. Hitler suddenly had a nationwide audience. The media coverage give Hitler more publicity than he could ever dreamed of.

A

Hitler went to Landsberg Fortress and it was not a particularly harsh life. Hitler was allowed visitors, newspapers, books and plenty of food. He spent most of his time in prison writing Meier Kampf. This book was “waffly” and described hitlers ideas concerning history, politics, race and germanys future . He had hardly time to finish it as he was released after only 9 months

The Hitler Youth existed from 1922 to 1945. The Hitler youth was the second oldest Nazi group founded one year after its adult counterpart the SA. It was made up of the Hitler Youth Proper( for make youth ages 14-18), German young people (Deutsches Jungvolk( younger boys section for ages 10 to 14) and the girls section

A

In October 1929 the US stock market crashed. An economic recession (the Great Depression) began which affected the entire world. Germany was one of the countries which was hit hardest
