Non-discrimination in defence work, that stopped the march

Outbreaks of racist violence and strikes by white workers
What did the shortage of workers mean?
White skilled workers had to let black people work alongside them
What had white workers begin to think?
Could become friends because blacks can do skilled work

They were still racist, supporting segregation and believed that whites are first
