What does waning mean?
The visible surface of the moon decreases in size, leading up to a new moon.

What type of energy is released from the sun?

Why is the sun important to the solar system?
Provides visible light, prevents planets from drifting away, protects us from cosmic radiation, and creates radiation, and photosynthesis.

Visible light, ultra-violet radiation, infrared radiation, x-rays and gamma rays.
