Evil and suffering that is caused by humans. e.g. Murder
Problem of evil
The question of whether God can really exist when there is so much evil and suffering in the world
Inconsistent triad
God is omnibenevolent and omnipotent but evil exists. cannot all be true
theodicy
An argument which tried to show that God is good eventhough there is lots of evil and suffering in the world
Cosmological argument
An argument that tries to prove that God exists: Everything has a cause there cannot be infinite regress. There must be a first cause. This is God
Infinite Regress
The idea that cause and effect goes back and back forever in a chain with no starting point
Teleological Argument
The world is very complex. It is unlikely that this would happen by chance. There must be an intelligent designer who is God
Moral argument
Everyone has a conscience. This conscience must have come from somewhere. There must be some kind of powerful law- giver
Conscience
The feeling of right or wrong within us
Miracle
an event which could not happen by nature
The Incarnation
The belief that God became human as Jesus
Fundamentalist Christians
Christians who take the Bible literally
Liberal Christians
Christians who interpret the Bible to look for meaning
Religious experience
When a person has an experience of God
Converion Experience
when a person has an experience from God which drastically changes their beliefs
Vision Experiences
When a person had an experience where they see God, Mary or Jesus, Etc.
Charismatic Experience
When someone has an exper of the Holy Spirit
Sacramental Experience
When someone experiences God through one of the sacraments. e.g through the Eucharist
