Q

What is the problem with the historicty of each account brief.

A

In Matthews it is believed he invented Herod massacre to draw parallels between Jesus and Moses.

Looks chronology of Jesus is suspect as they cannot be in established link between Harrod ruling while quinarius was the governor of Syria, and he misleads his readers with the songs as they were already about before the times of Jesus.

Q

What is redaction criticism and how can it be applied to both narratives.

A

Redaction criticism is how right is older existing material to suit their own agenda, it is believed that Matthew’s gospel was aimed at Jewish readers therefore this explains his need to establish a bond between King David and the fill the old testament prophecy and linked with Moses.
Why Luke’s is towards the gentiles this is why he has Shepherd instead of wise men as they are more like common folk and tells a story up from Mary’s perspective showing his sympathy for women who were marginalized.
