Glavlit 1922- professional censoring to get rid of anti communist ideas

A

Censorship duh… but from 1928 it also had access to economic data

A

lots of sports magazines (Red sport 1924 and then Sovestkii sport in 1946) had honest sports coverage even if political news praising gov was on the front page. Magazines were aimed at groups of workers (They were allowed to have interests!)

A

He encouraged to use reader letters- only on non political letters were they allowed their own opinions.
Rabotnitsa women’s newspapers exposed many social problems eg. alcoholism

apartments were built with radio reception but it was restricted to the government radio station. Gov only produced cheap radios so they didn't have the range to get foreign radio channels

they were affordable to most of the population!! Even the country could afford TVs

news, documentaries on the achievements of socialism cultural programmes with Ballet/ classic arts Kids programmes all uninspiring tho :(

There was more light entertainment which was more popular :) Local programming to the regions of the USSR!!!! by 1980

There were 3 radio stations instead of 1 Radio Maiak even had foreign music for the youth!

Critical views of Gov more likely to be published - but not party leaders specifically
